From anonymous business district to creative hotspot

The Werkspoorkwartier is a business district in Utrecht where a lot of creative industry and craftspeople are located. It is a pioneering development area for circular economy applications. Our assignment was to make a striking and recognizable visual identity for the entire district. The name and logo honor the history of the area. The place where a lot of the materials for the Dutch rail network were produced. The identity can be seen throughout the neighborhood. The rail viaduct serves as a welcome gate, and for those who do not look up, they’ve outlined the borders of the district with paving stones.
Meetings with all the entrepreneurs in the district were organized to collect all their input and preferences for the rebranding.
The district name and the design of the logo was decided on by tallying the votes.
